Our greatest thanks to all who attended and supported the Women for Women in Africa Foundation Cocktail Function at Eureka Function Centre.
The function at the Eureka Tower was our main fundraising event and was an amazing success. The function was attended by 200 people and contributed $60,000 to the education of children and the establishment of the Wakawake kwa Wanawake Centre in Kibera.

Helping in Kenya. Children from African slum in festive focus from Glen Iris.
Leader Community ePaper - Stonnington Leader - 22 Dec 2009
An article about Women for Women in Africa was recently published in the Stonnington Leader...
"GLEN Iris extends good will to Kenya's largest slum at Christmas.
For five years, Women for Women in Africa have helped educate children living in Kibera in the
country's capital, Nairobi. The neighbourhood is the second-biggest slum in Africa."
The Women for Women in Africa Foundation (WFWIA) is an Australian based organisation that works to improve life for the women and children in the slum of Kibera, on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya.
Kibera is one of Africa's largest slums where an estimated one million people live in extreme poverty crammed into an area of less than 300 hectares with little water, electricity or sanitation.
HIV significantly affects the region and thousands of children have been orphaned. Kibera's women desperately need assistance to stabilise family life and to feed and educate their children.
We are a non denominational organisation.
We aim for every cent of funding and donations to go towards helping the women and children of Kibera. Directors, associates and administrative personnel act in a voluntary capacity.
WFWIA works with registered organisations operating in Kibera to fund skills training for women and the education of children in local schools.
Whilst our work is on a small scale, it is making a significant difference for the people we help in Kibera. We believe in providing support to Kibera's women and children, helping them to stabilise family life and to feed and educate their children. We offer support for all of life's needs. We also provide what the children need at school, such as books, accommodation and uniforms.
Donations and educational development are the main ways that we can make a difference to the people of Kibera and there are a range of other activities you might like to get involved in.
You can attend fundraising events, get your school involved, buy locally made handcrafts or even become a volunteer.
With just a small donation or a few hours of your time, this is a terrific opportunity to dramatically change the course of people's lives.
