LEGACY GIFT

Your legacy gift will make a lasting impact

When you choose to leave a gift in your will, you change the future of a child living in the slum of Kibera.  Your act of generosity starts a wave of change from poverty to promise. Remembering WFWIA in your Will is a very personal decision but it carries great hope. It is something that you believe in and leaves a legacy your family will be proud of.

Our promise to you:

We understand how personal and meaningful this decision is. That’s why we make these promises to you:

  • We will always respect your privacy and your right to make this decision in your own time.

  • We understand that your loved ones come first, and your circumstances may change.

  • We will honour your gift with transparency and care, ensuring it is used where it will make the greatest impact.

  • We will keep your family informed about how your legacy is making a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.

 FAQs

  • A bequest is another term for a gift in a Will. In Australia, the two terms are often used interchangeably.

  • Australia does not have inheritance or estate taxes. While donations to deductible gift recipients (DGRs) are tax-deductible during your lifetime, bequests are not tax-deductible as they are part of your estate.

    1. Decide to include a gift in your Will—it’s a meaningful way to leave a lasting legacy.

    2. Think about the type of gift you’d like to leave (we suggest a residual gift, as it’s flexible and helps the most).

    3. Create or update your Will. You can do it yourself, but we recommend working with a solicitor, financial planner, or Wills specialist for peace of mind.

    4. Add your bequest to your Will or make a simple update with a codicil (a quick legal amendment).
